Tom Visits Valhalla

Tom was able to get a break from his summer job long enough for a trip to Valhalla. His first order of business was to get the little boat working and get his fishing license.

Becky's first order of business was to pick some of the many blueberries that were plentiful everywhere.

We then went fishing. Tom latched onto this thirty inch northern. He was sad that he had to throw it back (inside the slot limit).

As a consolation prize, I took Tom trolling later and we found a few we could keep.

Ettrick was very happy to have Tom home.

Tom got his exercise chopping wood.

Tom and I went on a fishing expedition to Namakan on Sunday. We caught over twenty fish but put most of them back. Tom had the thrill of his life when this monster struck his lure just as he was about to pull it out of the water. The fish then nearly spooled him but he fought it back to the boat. We thought it might be the one that took his lure earlier at the same spot. The top picture shows the rest of our haul for this trip including two walleye, two bass and two other northerns. It also shows that this picture doesn't capture the true size of the fish.

Although Grandpa pronounced the official weight at 12 pounds. It looks more like 13 lbs. to me. It was 35.5 inches (just over the slot).

Tom helped filet.

We had so much fish by this point that we invited everyone on the lake to supper. Mary and her college roommate (Jeri) joined us.
