August 2008 Valhalla Trip (Page 2)

Thursday was Tom's last full day at Valhalla for the year. He wanted to take a trip to the Kettle Falls Hotel. We crossed a pretty choppy Namakan Lake to get there (but not as bad as our last trip in our previous boat). GPS makes all the difference in finding our way there.

The famous Kettle Falls Hotel Bar has an undulating floor that makes you feel tipsy before your first drink. The pool table has a special prop just so it can sit level.

We took a short hike to see the falls. This is Rainy Lake on the other side of the falls.

On our way back, we fished my favorite spot on Namakan. This is the fish I threw back so it will be there when you come up (33 inches - about 10 lbs).

These were the ones we kept for supper. Tom caught the walleye and the two bass (one was 5 lbs.).

After our fish supper (and the lifeguard required half hour), we went tubing (photos courtesy of our spotter - Grandpa).

Yes, I said WE went tubing. Tom was nice to me. This new tube is a bit more stable than the old one.

Tom wanted to do everything on his last day so he finished off with skiing.

Tom also wanted to make sure I hurt for a week after he was gone.
