Labor Day 2008 Valhalla Trip

Becky and I headed north (sans kids) for the Labor Day weekend. I went trolling in Big David and caught a few northern that I threw back, but this bass I had to keep for lunch.

We took a hike to the point. The trails were in generally good shape but the underbrush is trying to make a comeback.

Becky played fetch with Ettrick.

Ettrick was more than happy to oblige.

Becky and I put up a few of the signs that Grandpa had made for the trails.

Meanwhile, Grandpa continued his mission to beat back the cattails.

Boots hosted a dinner of pasties.

Siri is showing off her puppy dog doll.

On Sunday we went in to Crane Lake for Voyageur Days. This celebration has seen its better days but we enjoyed the ice cream social at Handbergs. While driving around, we decided to take a little side trip to Vermillion Falls. These falls are just a bit above the gorge.

On Monday, we enjoyed a beach day. Later, I took a hike up on some new trails that Dad has been clearing. This is the view from one of them. We left Tuesday in the rain (perfect for Dad's little seedlings).
