The Fishermen Visit Valhalla

Our church men's group is called The Fishermen. I brought a few of them up for a fishing weekend (little did they know I would rope them into helping me close up).

This is Dana Loken.

and Kal Schellenberg...

...and Mark Olson. We went to Staege Bay the first afternoon. In the evening we went to Redhorse River.

We had fish to eat every night. The guys were good to pitch in on the kitchen cleanup.

On Saturday we took a long excursion up to Lady Rapids. The scenery always makes the trip worthwhile even if we don't catch fish.

As it turns out, we did catch fish.

...plenty of fish. The top picture shows our haul from that trip including a few from fake Namakan.

We had plenty of fish to filet. Dad had made the apropos sign prior to our arrival. we had a fish feast with Dad and Boots attending as well. We were literally stuffed to the gills.

Mark Olson was particularly fond of the many trails. Before the weekend was done he had hiked all but a couple of the small branch trails. He even learned about snippy snippy.

We took all the guys on a hike to Little David.

Nobody fell by the wayside.

Mark insisted on walking dangerously close to the edge of the cliffs even with the slippery wet rocks we were on. I took this picture to show his wife the last time we saw him alive.

Mark did survive and found the trail to the shoreline. We fished the same bay on Sunday before closing up.

In the evenings we taught the guys to play Baloney. It turns out that most church going Lutherans aren't very good liars. On Sunday we closed for the season and headed home. With all the help it only took an hour to close up.
